However, the village people are focused on more serious issues, such as their AIDS crisis, famine, and violent leaders, rather than religious conversion. Matt Stone and Trey Parker had a large part in creating the musical’s script, and they’re well-known for their hugely successful animated comedy series ‘South Park.’ Robert Lopez, the lyricist of ‘Frozen,’ also is responsible for the musical genius behind The Book of Mormon. The musical opened in 2011 and won nine Tony Awards. In addition, The Book of Mormon won a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album. The Book of Mormon holds residency at Eugene O’Neill Theatre in addition to the national tours and international residencies.
